Ibrahimovic back in Sweden squad
03/14/07 16:42 Inter Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been included in Sweden's 20-man squad for the Euro 2008 qualifier away to Northern Ireland on March 28.
Ibrahimovic had refused to play for Sweden since he and two other players were sent packing by coach Lars Lagerback for staying out too late two days before a Euro 2008 qualifier against Liechtenstein last September. "We're getting one of Europe's and the world's best forwards back," Coach Lagerback told a media conference on Wednesday. Unbeaten Sweden are top of Group F with 12 points from their four matches. Valencia's Navarro banned for seven months
03/14/07 16:28 Valencia defender David Navarro has been banned for seven months for running on to the pitch and punching Argentine midfielder Nicolas Burdisso at the end of his side's Champions League match with Inter Milan last week. UEFA said in its ruling posted on its Web site (www.uefa.com) on Wednesday that it would ask world football's governing body FIFA to extend the suspension imposed on Navarro to international level. It would then apply to all competitions -- including domestic leagues and national team fixtures -- on top of UEFA club competition matches. More.

03/14/07 07:47 Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini was unrepentant Tuesday after calling Fiorentina's Romanian striker Adrian Mutu a "crafty little gypsy." Zamparini made the remark after the controversial opening goal scored by Mutu against Palermo in their Serie A match last Sunday. Palermo defender Roberto Guana pulled up with a hamstring injury while running with the ball, handing Fiorentina possession. The move upfield which followed led to Mutu putting the visitors ahead.
